Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) is seeking its next CFO in Washington, DC. The CFO reports to the President/CEO and is a key member of the senior management team for this international media company.

Who we are:
RFE/RL is a multi-platform media organization with a budget of approx. $150 million and a mission to provide uncensored news in local languages to countries where press freedom is under threat. https://www.rferl.org/ We employ over 1,400 staff (60+ nationalities) in 20+ countries and engage thousands of freelancers.
RFE/RL is a private, nonprofit Sec. 501(c)3 corporation, and is funded by a grant from the U.S. Congress through the United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM) as a private grantee.
The role:
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- managing the heads of the Finance Division’s functional areas, consisting of Financial Planning and Analysis, Comptroller (Accounting, Treasury and Compliance) and Contracts and Procurement;
- ensuring that RFE/RL complies with federal and state corporate regulatory requirements and RFE/RL’s grant terms;
- effectively collaborating with other division heads;
- directly engaging with our Board of Directors (serving as key contact for the Audit Committee), USAGM and the Office of Budget Management (OMB) as needed;
- participating in the development of the organization's plans and programs as a strategic partner, evaluating and advising on short- and long-range planning, and new initiatives;
- participating in the Benefits Committee, which is charged with overseeing employee and retiree benefit programs;
- ensuring that financial systems support the needs of the company and effectively serve as a tool for resource planning and management; and
- overseeing cash-flow planning, availability of funds, investments, and asset management.
What we are looking for:
- Ten years in financial leadership roles, preferably in a nonprofit organization of comparable size with a budget of $100 million or above.
- Experience with companies or organizations utilizing U.S. government funding very helpful.
- Proven strong track record of delivering strategic financial planning and performance including a background in data and technology strategies (e.g. upgrade of accounting systems and implementation).
- Managing complex cross-divisional change programs and identifying operational improvements and cost efficiencies.
- Experience working with a highly diverse and international population preferred.
- Successful candidates must be willing to obtain a USG security clearance and be available to travel to Prague, Czech Republic, as needed.
